Citation analysis of Yugoslav psychological periodicals 1981-1990: The influence and mutual respect of Psychology departments

Abstract: The exploratory analysis of citation data gathered from Yugoslav psychological journals published from 1981 to 1990 was performed. Complete volumes of four periodicals that can be safely classified as both psychological and scientific were subjected to the analysis. The citation rate and mutual citadness of eight ex-Yugoslav psychology departments were calculated. The results indicated two characteristics of ex-Yugoslav academic psychology: (i) large interdepartmental variations in impact that correspond to the variations in their research activity/productivity, and (ii) small citation exchange rate among departments, which correspond to extremely low level of their publishing cooperation.
