Citation analysis of Yugoslav psychological periodicals 1981-1990: The relations among indices of individual citedness

Abstract: The citedness of Yugoslav authors was determined on the ten’years corpus of four Yugoslav psychological journals. Eleven relatively independent citation indices were derived. Their distributions and mutual relations were established. In spite of experimental dependance of analyzed variables their factor analysis resulted in three-dimensional structure, suggesting complex character of citedness as a measure. The results obtained demonstrate that factor differentiation occurred on the basis of authors' status, i.e. participation in the authors' team. Three latent dimensions turned out to be related to measures of authors' prominence in essentially different way. The results generally call for expressing individual citedness in the fractional form.
