The Reviewer of the Year Award and the Outstanding Reviewer Acknowledgment are awarded annually according to the Rulebook. There are no calls for nominations for this award. All those who have reviewed manuscripts submitted to about one hundred SCIndeks journals using the SCIndeks Assistant as the platform for online journal management may qualify as the nominees.
The award criteria are designed and elaborated so as to favour reviewers who have done a greater number of reviews for multiple journals (but not those where they are editorial board members), who have provided a detailed argumentation for their recommendations and especially those who, according to the authors, helped to significantly improve the quality of submitted manuscripts.
The methodology for evaluating reviews and, accordingly, reviewers, which heavily relies on the review assessment provided by the authors, is a specific and innovative solution, accommodated to the scientific level of SCIndeks journals. This procedure has proven to be justified and effective in the process of selecting reviewers. The laureates were highly graded on this parameter, although they recommended in review reports not only the acceptance of papers, but in many cases revision and rejection, which was also taken into consideration as one of the selection criteria.
This year’s laureates were selected among 2677 reviewers from Serbia and other countries who had submitted a total of 5742 reviews.
Along with a diploma, the Reviewer of the Year Award laureate was given a voucher with the value of 1500 EUR that can be used to cover conference attendance costs or an Article Processing Charge (APC) in a fee-based journal. The Outstanding Reviewer Acknowledgment was granted to one reviewer from each of the five broad scientific areas: Medical Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Agricultural Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities. The Outstanding Reviewer Acknowledgment in Natural Sciences was not awarded because there were no reviewers who managed to meet the criteria specified in the Rulebook.
CEON/CEES would like to thank to all laureates for their indisputable contribution to the quality of papers published in SCIndeks Assistant journals over the past year and is pleased to announce that the following reviewers are the laureates of the 2020 award:
